A Pleasing Aroma to the Lord

I was reading this morning in Leviticus 8 about the consecration of Aaron and his sons to the priesthood.

I was struck how many times it was said that the burnt part of their offerings (several different kinds) were “a pleasing aroma to the Lord”.

All the details reminded me of how important our consecration as priests is.

The Resurrection and the Life

In John 11, when Martha met Jesus, she had an incomplete concept of who he was.

In verses 21 through 27 we see a progression:

First, she sees Jesus as someone who could have prevented Lazarus from dying.

Second, she sees him as someone who could ask God for anything, and God would do it.

Third, she see him as the One who is in fact, the Resurrection and the Life, and her confession is: “Yes, Master,” she replied; “I thoroughly believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”
